The purpose of this study is to detect the damagedred pine trees by pine wilt disease using high resolution satelliteimage of IKONOS Geo. IKONOS images are segmentedwith eCognition image processing software. A segment basedmaximum likelihood classification was performed to delineatethe pine stand. The pine stands are regarded as a potentialdamage area. In order to develop a methodology to detect thelocation of damaged trees from the high resolution satelliteimage, black and white aerial photographs were used as asimulated image. The developed method based on filteringtechnique. A local maximum filter was adapted to detect thelocation of individual tree. This report presents a part of thefirst year results of an ongoing project.
