Motivating Students to Ask and Answer Questions in Class——An Effective Approach to Improve Students' Communicative Ability

Today there exists a common problem in college English teaching, that is,students show little interest in asking and answering questions. The reasons underlying this problem are analyzed and then some proposals on how to motivate students to ask and answer questions are made: 1. Teachers should create the atmosphere which arouses students' thinking so that they are ready to ask and answer questions. 2. Teachers should prepare questions with careful design so that students are willing to answer them. 3. Teachers should cultivate students' psychological character so that students can ask and answer questions in front of the whole class without anxiety. 4. Teachers should appropriately exert a certain pressure on the students by making the score from clas sperformance into a part of final examination.
