Study on Certification Systems of Eco-friendly Housing for Residents' Safety

摘要

As environmental pollution menaces the survival of human beings, the topic of environmental safety is becoming a hot issue particularly as it relates to apartments. There are many residents facing difficulties with environmental hazards. In relation to this matter, increasing environmental pollution is important to consider because the total process of building construction from production to disuse accounts for 30%-40% of CO_2 emissions and energy consumption all over the world. Therefore many advanced countries are establishing architectural plans in the concept of green building for the reduction of environmental pollution. On the basis of this current architectural concept, certification systems of environmental performance of green building is being established following such examples as BREEAM of England, BEPAC of Canada, LEED of the U.S., and GBC Tool of the World Green Building Committee. Also the Korean government has been operating the united certification system of eco-friendly housing since 2004 and expanding the standard of categories. This study aims to make a suggestion about the certification system of eco-friendly housing better reflecting the residents' safety by comparing international trends with Koreans'.
