Transputer-based system for the visual inspection of surface mount assemblies

Abstract: This paper describes a project, the aim of which is to develop a low-cost machine vision system for the inspection of surface mount electronic assemblies and solder joints. The system uses a simple optical system connected to sophisticated machine vision software running on a transputer network. This allows high-speed inspection at a lower cost than existing x-ray or laser techniques. !10
