By incorporating a multicultural perspective in teaching, students may find course matter more relevant to their own life experiences and also become more sensitized to the viewpoints of people of different cultures as they prepare to function in an ethnically diverse population and a global economy. The activity suggested here provides students with an opportunity to investigate a topic in western costume history while recognizing multicultural influences on western dress and appreciating the styles of different cultures.
