Design Recommendations for Seismic Retrofit of Shear-Deficient Reinforced Concrete Bridge Columns with Advanced Composite Jackets

A proposed design methodology for theseismic retrofit of shear-deficient reinforced concretebridge columns by advanced composite jackets ispresented. The proposed procedure is based partly on anextensive experimental investigation of half-scale bridgecolumns tested under cyclic lateral loads. A numericalprediction of the cyclic behavior of the tested samples wasalso performed using two displacement models and sixdifferent concrete confinement models.
