A proposed design methodology for theseismic retrofit of shear-deficient reinforced concretebridge columns by advanced composite jackets ispresented. The proposed procedure is based partly on anextensive experimental investigation of half-scale bridgecolumns tested under cyclic lateral loads. A numericalprediction of the cyclic behavior of the tested samples wasalso performed using two displacement models and sixdifferent concrete confinement models. The recommendeddesign procedure achieves both efficient and reliableseismic retrofit for shear enhancement
