Design and construction of a large concrete flume spanning over a wide freeway in a high seismiczone are discussed. Challenges included heavy service loads, supercritical flows, 7.5 MCE, prevention of leakagethrough concrete and joints, channel flow during construction and an economical and aesthetic design.Construction feedback is included.
