The Expanding North American Market for Gypsum Wallboard

During the late 1990s and early part of the 21st Century many changes have occurred in the North American gypsum wallboard industry. The last decade saw considerable increases in manufacturing capacity, substitution of raw materials, energy conservation measures, and the introduction of new products that provide superior performance in a variety of applications. The wallboard industry also experienced several mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, construction of new plants, and the expansion of manufacturing capacity at existing plants. In addition, several older, less efficient manufacturing facilities were temporarily or permanently closed and dismantled.
