摘要

Manufacturing of large-sized structural ceramics is quite challenging, especially, if the ceramic components are designated for wear-, corrosion- and thermal shock-resistance applications. In many cases, monolithic complicated shapes, such as pipes, cones, cyclones, elbows and other components with sufficient wall thickness (up to 50-75 mm) are required in industry. The shaping from thixotropic slurries contained particles of various sizes allows processing complicated large-sized (up to 1 m diameter and height) components for structural applications. This technology is versatile, and it does not require expensive and complicated equipment. As example, silicon carbide-based ceramics obtained by the proposed technology are described.
