Abstract: This technical paper describes a new unique form of deformable mirror that was engineered, designed, and built at Hughes Danbury Optical Systems. This paper discusses the current state of the art, the requirements, configuration, and special features such as the choice of materials for the mirror, interchangeable actuators, cooling technique and fabrication details. !0
