Treatment of oral pathogenic bacteria with non-thermal plasma activated water as a new type mouthwash

Dental caries and periodontal disease are common oral diseases worldwide, and 60–90% of school children and nearly 100% of adults have dental cavities. The world health organization has put the incidence of periodontal disease as the tumor, cardiovascular morbidity after the third. Actually, those two diseases are caused by bacteria (facultative anaerobes and obligate anaerobes). Chemical drug (such as 0.2% chlorhexidine) is one of the primary clinical prevention and treatment for common oral diseases in clinical practice. However, chlorhexidine often leads to inevitable side effects, such as: tooth staining, taste disturbance, mucosal erosion, unilateral or bilateral swelling of the parotid gland, etc.
