A method to calculate the probability of error in the presence of Intersymbol Interference (ISI) and Gaussian noise for M-ary Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) systems is derived by expanding the Beaulieu series method for error probability of binary symmetric channels. Error bounds for the expanded method are derived, and evaluation results for systems with Gaussian pulse signaling are provided.
