Activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase,rnglutathione peroxidase (GP), and glutathione reductase (GR)rnwere determined in the heart of young and old control andrnhypergravity (HG) treated male Wistar rats. Relatively smallrnand insignificant changes were observed when comparingrnenzyme activities in the heart of young and old control rats,rnwhereas HG induced significant decline of SOD and GP inrnthe group of old rats and GR in young animals. Statisticallyrnhighly significant positive correlation found for SOD andrndownstream acting catalase in young (r=0.72; P<0.00001)rnand old rats (r=0,86; P<0.00001) was preserved in Hgtreatedrnyoung animals as well (r=0.66; P<0.02), assumingrnthat SOD-catalase pair could remain functionally related inrnboth aging and HG. However, three-dimensional (3D) nonlinearrnplotting and cluster analysis revealed significantrnalterations in enzyme relations in the heart of both aging andrnHG-treated animals.
