MICROSYSTEMS and Micro-Nano Technologies IN THE 6th Framework Programfor European Research:RTD IN A STRUCTURING CONTEXT

The concept of the European Research Area - ERA; the RTD within the 6th Frame Work performed in a structuring context alongside other major initiatives such, as Eurimus; the notion of Ambient Intelligence; the micro and nanotechnology strategy are synergic aspects of a complex strategic program aiming to achieve a new vision for the research at the European level. This new vision has been considered very important and necessary to improve the European industry competitiveness in old and in emerging new sectors. Research on micro and nanosystems is considered essential for this progress however it was considered necessary to improve its efficiency, effectiveness in using and coordinating all the available economic resources and enhancing its capacity to transform, more quickly and efficiently, the RTD results into innovation. Results of a first call to address this strategy are reported.
