Bioengineering for Rehabilitation - Combining Education, Research and Community Service - a Reflection on the Model at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

摘要

This presentation intends to show how a community service program of this scale can be integrated with a rigorous academic programme. REC has successfully established herself as a leading academic unit in the field of Bioengineering with a special focus on Rehabilitation Engineering. The REC model as originally conceived by its Steering Committee and funded by the Jockey Club has been recognized as a success against various measures. This model may serve as a useful reference for similar collaborative developments between the tertiary institutions and the community.
