This work presents results of investigations concerning cast iron with carbon equivalent CE equal to 4.35/4.59, treated with simultaneously introduced foundry alloys containing bismuth (about 2.0%) and rare earth metals (18% Ce). Cast iron with compact graphite precipitates has been obtained as a result of the applied treatment. It has been found that the change from flake to compact graphite takes place for trace amounts of bismuth (0.0005/0.0012%) and cerium (0.02/0.04%).
