The increasing demand for materials for enantioselective catalysis and separation,and the ubiquitous existence of chirality in biological processes have stimulated extensive research in the area of homochiral coordination polymers.1 The design and synthesis of homochiral solids often depends on the crystallization process that allows the generation of chirality from three popular strategies:a) Self-assembling achiral components into a chiral network through the spatial organization (usually helices) of achiral units.2 b) Inducement of achiral building blocks by chiral additives or solvents to form a chiral framework backbone,which are extensively investigated by Bu and Morris.3 c) Straightforward incorporation of enantiopure organic ligands into the crystalline framework as either crosslinking or pendant ligands4 except for the undesirable racemization of the enantiopure ligands.5 For the third synthetic strategy,the success in the bulk materials of homochiral coordination polymers has proved to be an ideal alternative to generate a single enantiomeric product.
