Perspective Drawing Course in the Architectural Division, School of Engineering, Osaka Univ

摘要

In the School of Engineering, Osaka University, the perspective drawing exercise course based on the graphics programming education is offered to the students in Architectural Engineering Division as a part of the graphics science course. During FY2000, LINUX is used for the graphics programming exercise. Results are as follows; (1) No remarkable variance in the students' score is observed in introducing LINUX for the graphics programming in comparison with the previous method, nevertheless it becomes the operation method using the keyboard by the key input from KTERM instead of the operation method using the mouse by graphic user interface. (2) The exercise of shading a wire frame model is expected for the students to visualize the concept of perspective projection. (3) The majority of the hours in the exercise are consumed for learning the programming, so the hours allocated for the drawing/rendering exercise tend to be compressed. The use oi GMP in LINUX as the rendering method is expected to be the effective education tool as it is possible to understand the visual effects of shading and rendering during the exercise and it enables students to understand the concept of vanishing points of the perspective projection.
