摘要

Wireless sensor networks have very different requirements than wireless LANs. The throughput and fairness requirements are left behind the low power-consumption. Novel MAC protocols that reduce the energy spent in listening to an idle medium or in overhearing are needed. This paper presents a simulation model of a radio layer suited for the evaluation of such low power protocols. The model of a proposed low power MAC layer is described as well. Simulation results are presented and compared with theoretical expressions.
