摘要

The electrooxidation of tetractarbonylferrate [Fe(CO)_4]~2- in NaOH solution has been investigated with regard to its possible application in a fuel cell system.using rotating disk electrode (RDE),electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance and in-situ UV/VIS spectroscopy,mechanistic aspects were studied.In a first step the mononuclear tetracarbonylferrate anion combines to polynuclear iron carbonyl clusters,the stability of which decreases with increasing size.leading to their decomposition and the fromation of carbonate and iron oxides as the final products.Different anode materials exhibit comparable electrocatalytic activity.Precious metal catalysts are not needed for the anodic oxidation reaction.
