摘要

Much earlier to the sprouting of cosmic fantasies in the wildest thoughts of modern man, there existed in India, an anthology of divine literature that acted as a beacon light to the benighted humanity. The Bhagavat Gita, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Vedas and Upanishads, works on astrology and yoga, and the Manusmriti, all employed 'cosmos' as a metaphor to lead mankind from darkness to light, from real to unreal and from death to immortality. Owing to the enormity of the literature, the present paper attempts to make an appreciative scratch of the aforementioned texts and portrays the splendid manner in which cosmic notions reawakens mankind from the age-long languor, and impart a message of peace and good will to the world.
