Effect of Mould Electromagnetic Stirring on Quality of 34Mn2V Steel

The effects of different electromagnetic stirring intensity on the inner quality of the middle carbon steel of the bloom are analysed by comparative experiment. The stirring currents that are executed in the experiment are 150A, 200A, 250A, 300A, and 350A respectively. The results have showed that the inner quality of the bloom can be improved by increasing the current intensity of M-EMS of 34Mn2V steel, the proportion of central equiaxed grain of the bloom can be increased to 33.65% from 22.50%;the effects of E-MES current on 34Mn2V steel in central segregation, and central looseness are not obvious, and the distribution of the carbon component in the bloom transect is homogeneity relativity. After using M-EMS, liquid-phase convection of solidifying front became more acute, the convection scoured the frontal solidification which grows from the columnar crystal. The mother liquid and the liquid in the two-phase region are mixed by the liquid-phase convection of solidifying front, in result, the solute chroma tend to be constant.
