Heat flux of slag film in continuous casting mold was simulated in the laboratory by a homemade device which can quantify the heat flux and acquire the slag film. After stabilization of the temperature at 1400℃, a water-cooled copper sensor is inserted into the liquid flux, then the heat flux of slag film is achieved by calculating the water temperature difference. The measured heat flux includes the influence of liquid flux, solid slag film and the copper-slag interface, so the simulation process is more close to the practice, and the operation is accomplished in a short time.The paper described detailedly the experimental set-up and the measured principle. In addition, structures of the solid slag film acquired in factory and laboratory were analyzed, and the results show they are accorded with each other.
