The higher fluorine content in tradiditional fluxes can lead to the environmental pollution and equipment corrosion. So that it is necessary to decrease even remove the flurine from fluxes. But on the other hand, simply decresing of fluorine has made a series worse metallurgical problems.For example, as the fluorine decreasing, the worsen temperature viscosity properties of traditional casting mould fluxes for high carbon steel can easily cause the sticking and breakout. It is also difficult to harmonize the conflicts between the heat transfering and lubricating functions of the fluorine free fluxes for casting of peritectic steel. To much clear these problems, in this paper, the properties and micro-structures, crystallizing properties and mineralgraphical components, inclusion absorption properties of low and free fluorine fluxes have been explored and obtained systematically referring to those successfully used high fluorine containing fluxes.
