In continuous casting of steel, mold fluxes play important roles in the lubrication between casting strand and mold, and the lubricative ability of mold flux is mainly decided by the crystallization properties. Effect of MnO on mold fluxes nonisothermal crystallization kinetics properties was investigated by DSC and XRD. The result indicated that, with MnO addition increasing, precipitation of cuspidine in the mold fluxes was restrained. However, a few of crystals such as Ca2Al(AlSiO7) and CaMn7O12 were precipitated at the same time. In addition, with MnO addition increasing, the period of crystallization was prolonged.
