GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SHIP NOISE IN SHALLOW WATER

The paper presents acoustic characteristics of ships obtained using underwater noise measurements. Except methods used traditionally in spectrum analysis, such as narrowband analysis, the derivative of the octave analysis - analysis in 1/3 of octave or 1/24 of octave, another method of analysis is proposed. Signal is analysed in medium frequency range with constant resolution. As a result of analysis frequency characteristics is obtained being a kind of the broadband spectrum envelope. The shape of the characteristics reflects the distribution of the acoustic energy as a function of the frequency.
