1 Introduction Since June 2007, the national CET4 has made some changes, the most distinguishing change being its listening comprehension accounting from 20% previously to 35%, with more subjective items like spot dictation and compound dictation. Moreover, from December 2008, the subversive Internet-based CET4 has pioneered in some 50 universities across China, aiming that 70% of its test items are conducted through listening comprehension, especially the writing part. Without a good listening competence, candidates can't do the commenting, or even the summary of the essay they hear. u0000na
