Pyrite ashes are created as wastes from roasting of pyrite ores while the production of sulfuric acid. These processes generate great amounts of pyrite ash wastes that are generally land filled. This creates serious environmental pollution due to the release of acids and toxic substances. Pyrite ash wastes can be utilized in the iron production industry as a blast furnace feed to evaluate these wastes and prevent environmental pollution.rnThe essential parameters affecting the pelletization process of pyrite ashes were studied using bentonite as a binder. After that, experiments were carried out using bentonite and mixture of bentonite with calcium hydroxide and calcium chloride in order to make bentonite more effective. The crushing strength tests were carried out to investigate the strength of pyrite ash wastes pellets. The results of these analysis showed that pyrite ashes can be agglomerated to pellets and used in the iron production industry as a blast furnace feed. The crushing strength of pellets containing calcium hydroxide and calcium chloride in addition to bentonite are better than the strength of pellets prepared with only bentonite binder.
