The lack of information concerning the secondary air being admitted via the baffler in natural draught fluedrnappliances prevents a mathematical evaluation of the risk of flue moisture penetration. Against thisrnbackground, a test rig was set up with a view to determining the secondary air being admitted via thernappliance and the baffler as a function of the delivery pressure.rnThe test results can be described by an individual flow resistance coefficient referred to the flue gas flow atrnthe flue outlet. Instead of measuring the delivery pressure and flue-gas mass flow, use can generally bernmade of the manufacturer抯 data - the triple comprising flue-gas temperature, mass flow and deliveryrnpressure. This provides a simple means of calculating the secondary air component with referencernexclusively to readily available data.rnA calculation program was developed to assess the effects of secondary air. It provides a means ofrnexamining the effects of draught regulation systems and/or bafflers on the prevailing temperature conditionsrnat the flue outlet when operated with modern heating appliances.
