This paper describes the good weather situations in an important oil production area in Brazil, the Campos basin. These situations even not being the most severe are very important for fatigue analysis and the planning and execution of routine and special daily operations in the area. First we classify the different metocean conditions using a new wave directional analysis technique developed by one of authors. Fetches and effective winds are calculated using the JONSWAP formulation. These parameters not only help in identifying the different categories as fetch-limited seas, developed seas, quasi-seas (or close swell), but can be used in association with predicted extreme values in order to give a more realistic estimation. The paper concludes with an extreme value analysis for the good weather situations.
