MANIFESTED COMPETENCES OF CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURS WITHININNOVATIVE ENTERPRISES

Over the past 25 years, the concept of entrepreneurship has deserved the attention of thernexpert literature in three main areas: profile of the entrepreneur, strategic bases of expertisern(operations, resources, capabilities), and strategies of new business entrance in the market.rnThe corporate entrepreneur, however, has been studied mainly in terms to its ability to creaternand generate innovation within a company: organizational resilience and ambidexterity.rnThese studies leave uncovered an important component of entrepreneurs’ nature: the profilernof the entrepreneur. This research, therefore, was carried out targeting at identifying thernpresence of entrepreneurial skills in individuals considered to be entrepreneurs by their peers.rnIt involved a sample of 126 corporate entrepreneurs from a population of 300 individualsrnlinked to events of innovation. Respondents are employees dispersed amontg11 of the largestrncompanies in the mechanical, metallurgical and electrical equipment / communication sectorsrnin Brazil. We analyzed 10 individual competences, considered by expert literature asrnentrepreneurial competences. Nine competences appear significantly among researchedrnindividuals. We grouped the observable competences into three categories, according to theirrnlevel of significance, judged by respondents. Shown competences are categorized as HigherrnLevel competences (identified in more than 60% of respondents), Moderate Levelrncompetences (between 45 – 59%) and Lower Level competences (between 30 – 44%).rnConclusively, although all surveyed competences have manifested in some way amongrnsurveyed entrepreneurs, there is a strong tendency that the competences of Group I - HigherrnLevel competences, are fundamental to corporate entrepreneurs for carrying outrnentrepreneurial activities, like innovation, strategic renewal and creation/generation of newrnproducts in the corporate environment.
