Recently, the research of localization method based on RSS has become a hot research field in the wireless sensor networks. However, most of the algorithms based on RSS estimate the distance between the nodes through the radio signal propagation model, which is easy to introduce the error. RSS Localization Algorithm Based on Virtual Sample Nodes is proposed in this paper. Through the off-line acquisition of the RSS vector of sample nodes, and using the RSS vectors of sample nodes and the to-be-located node directly to calculate the likelihood probability, this paper screens out the sample nodes which are closest to the to-be-located node to calculate the coordinates of the to-be-located node by weighted centroid method. The algorithm features high localization accuracy, simple algorithm, and low computation complexity.
