The biomedical diagnostic devices based on the microfluidics technology has shown high potential for increasing the accuracy and precision of several blood tests. Plasma separation is a critical step in general whole blood analysis. Lab-on-a-disk as a platform for implementing the microfluidic specifications provides suitable conditions for preforming blood analysis operations. We presented a novel method based on this technology for pure plasma preparation from whole blood. Three different models are developed and validated which contains two main sections for plasma separation and collecting. Moment of inertia method which is a newly presented passive method for liquid pumping in centrifugal microfluidic platforms, is utilized in this study for plasma collecting step. The results show that a maximum collecting percentage of 51.5% of separated plasma is achievable.
