AGC plays an essential role in delivering the value and cost-effective electric energy to the modern power consumers. With modern trends to shift to cleaner sources of the energy the electrical energy system may have multiple or bulk hydro power generations. It increases the complexity as well as the challenges to meet the standards of AGC as hydro dominating control areas are basically unstable structures due to larger time constant associated with hydro turbines. Hence, this paper presents the novel control design for AGC of hydro-hydro energy system based on dual mode with fuzzy tuning methodology to meets the standards of AGC. The hydro-hydro control areas are connected via EHVAC tie-line and the proposed AGC is tested for 1% load change in control areas and the application results are compared with conventional PI as well as with natural AGC to show the power of the proposed AGC. Further improvements in the power of the proposed AGC are observed by installing the HVDC tie-line parallel to EHVAC between the control areas.
