A sequence-independent PCR amplification method was used to identify viral nucleicacids in the small intestine and liver specimens of 21 chickens presenting with symptoms of acute viral infection which were reared together with ducks. One of all PCR products of length of 1596 bp was detected, and was cloned into pGEM-T vector for sequencing and analysis. Results showed that the identity of the nucleotide sequence of obtained gene between ZZS10 isolate and other DEV reference strains were from 99% – 100%, the identity of the deduced amino acid sequence of obtained gene of ZZS10 isolate was the same as anatid herpesvirus. The present study indicated that ZZS10 isolate might be a member of Alphaherpesvirinae.
