TiO_2 nanocrystals aqueous sol were prepared by precipitation peptization method with TiCl4 as a precursor at low temperature under normal pressure, avoiding the high temperature sinter process. The influence from addition of modifying agent during the modification process upon the nanometer TiO_2 was investigated. Structure and properties were explored. XRD, UV -Vis spectra and zeta potential were used to characterize the crystallographic form and stability of the TiO_2 aqueous sol prepared under the optimal conditions. The application of nanometer TiO_2 aqueous sol to textiles was also studied. The product prepared by this method has many advantages as neutrality, good dispersion stability, and good photocatalytic feature Finished by the nanometer TiO_ 2 aqueous sol, the fabric has superior photocatalytic activity, and its abilities to degrade organic volatile matter and resist UV are enhanced significantly.
