The compound properties of MES and sodium liner alkyl benzene sulphonate were discussed in this article. From the result of detergency showed in tab.1, the detergency of LAS was much worse than MES. As the water hardness increased, the decrease of detergency of LAS was much faster than MES, which showed that the waterhardness resistance of MES was much better than LAS. As MES had such excellent lime soap dispersion, that it was perfect raw material for non-phosphate detergent. Showed in tab.2, the non-phosphate powder detergent formula with MES had better detergency than that withourt MES under different waterhardness. Because MES had better detergency than LAS, MES could take place of LAS partially and increase the detergency. Under the same condition, such as washing the same amount of clothes, the dosage of detergent with MES could reduce, but mataining the same detergency. For less amount of surfactant in the system, the water to rinse could be decreased. This was not only to save water, but also releasing the burden of waste water treatment. Another advantage of MES coupled with LAS was that it could decrease the irritation of LAS. As a result, the MES based laundry detergent was mild to skin. Besides laundry detergent, MES can applied to dish washing, body lotion, hand washing lotion, soap and so on. Palm oil, coconut oil, and other natural oil, as raw material of MES, were renewable, which was totally different from LAS. It was reported that MES would be biodegraded in 5 days in water, but LAS required a much longer term. As a conclusion, MES has a prosperous future, and the manufacture and application of MES is irresistible.
