From the industry, further attention to regenerative burner system, which is effective in high temperature furnaces from the point of energy savings, is being seen with the recent increased interest in reducing CO_2 emission. However, in the case of application to small furnace whose energy consumption is relatively small, there are problems in regard to recovery of facility investments. And the introduction of this system for such a small furnace has not seen progress in Japan.rnWe have therefore developed three types of regenerative gas burners, in proportion to the size or type of the furnace requiring burner capacity of 2000 kW and less, with importance attached to the economy of such furnaces. Then we have used these regenerative burners for energy savings of 30 units of furnaces for forging, melting or heat treatment. Although for these furnaces, conventional regenerative burners are difficult to be applied because of their economical and physical restrictions, the developed regenerative burners have not only been installed but also achieved favorable energy saving performance equivalent to conventional ones.
