Abstract: We have developed an efficient room-temperature20at%Yb:YAG thin chip (6 $MUL 6 $MUL 0.5 mm) laseroperating at 1.053 $mu@m pumped by Ti:Sapphire laseroperating at 940 nm. 356 mW of CW output power wasobtained for an absorbed pump power of 784 mW. Theslope efficiency was 69%, and extrapolated thresholdpower is 273 mW.!10
