Extruder, feed screw and barrel materials for wire and cable manufacturing

In this age of technology, every day new and better metal alloys are being developed. Screws and barrels are basically metal alloys. Therefore, one is faced with choosing the best material for screw and barrel needs out of a choice of thousands of alloys- all of which makes an engineer's task very difficult. This paper will provide a guide to narrow down the choices to a few, depending upon the plastic, being used. It will also touch on the why and the economics behind the recommendations.
