Rehabilitation of the first blue water bridge using the AASHTO LRFD Bridge design specifications

From the southern tip of Lake Huron the water flows into the Saint Clair River south to Lake Erie,passing Detroit.This fast moving river carries a large volume of heavy lake freighters,and it is the international boundary between Ontario,Canada on the east and Michigan,USA on the west.There are a number of border crossings between this heavily commercialized portion of Ontario and Michigan including a tunnel and a suspension bridge in Detroit and a railroad trnnel several miles south of the lake.On the north end adjacent to Lake Huron the existing Blue Water Bridge connects Port Huron,Michigan and Sarnia,Ontario.
