摘要

The inhibitors of monoaminoxidase (a specific enzyme present in the external mitochondrial membrane, involved in the nervous impulse transmission) have a common part in their skeleton, namely, the phenylethyl moiety. This part is recognized by the enzyme and Is present in different MAO inhibitors (like AMPHETAMINE, DEPRENYL and CHLORGYLINE). This paper deals with the synthesis and characterization of M(Ⅱ) - L complexes (M = Ni, Co, Cu. Fe. Mn; L - 1-phenyl-2(1' -piperidinyl) ethanone). In addition, we have performed a theoretical study of the system M(Ⅱ)-L, involving the first row of transition metals, using computational methods within the HyperChem 6.03 program. Both sets of data (experimental and calculated) were compared for a better characterization of this system.
