Uncovering Conceptual Gaps in Introductory IS Textbooks

摘要

This study performs a citation analysis on two sources of data, the set of "classic" IS publications and five popular introductory IS textbooks, to compare their core concepts. Preliminary results suggests that IS education is not teaching the concepts that IS scholars consider important. The gap between IS research and IS textbooks also results in textbooks that contain a lot of information but short on the content that will contribute to the goals of the IS field.
