The compound,4-(1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl)-3-thiourea carboxylic acid ethyl ester was synthesized by the reaction of 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole and ethyl chloroformate in ethyl acetate. Single crystals suitable for X-ray measurement were obtained by recrystallization with the mixture of dimethyl formamide and ethanol at room temperature. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystallographic data: C6H8N4O2S2,Mr=232.28,monoclinic,space group P2(1)/c with a=0.4206(3) nm,b=3.0417(18) nm,c=0.7934(5) nm,β=98.750(12)°,V=1.003(11)nm3,Dc=1.542 g·cm-3,μ=0.511 mm-1,F(000)=480,Z=4,R1=0.0685 and wR2=0.1452.
