A method for determining a usability of a domestic appliance comprises steps of scanning operating information of the domestic appliance; determining loads on various components of the domestic appliance on the basis of the operating information; and determining the usability of the domestic appliance on the basis of the determined loads and predetermined load functions for the components; whereby a stress function maps a certain stress to a remaining stress capacity.
