To provide a method for isolating an oxygen 17 isotope from water and a method for concentrating the oxygen 17 isotope using the same.SOLUTION: According to the invention, a method for isolating an oxygen 17 isotope from water and a method for manufacturing oxygen 17 concentrated water are provided. The method for isolating the oxygen 17 isotope from the water includes the steps of: mixing water containing an oxygen 17 isotope with formaldehyde to manufacture a formaldehyde aqueous solution; heating the formaldehyde aqueous solution to generate a vapor mixture containing water vapor and formaldehyde vapor; and by photodissociating the vapor mixture, obtaining mixed gas including carbon monoxide and hydrogen enriched with the oxygen 17 isotope, water from which the oxygen 17 isotope has been removed, and residual formaldehyde. The method for manufacturing the oxygen 17 concentrated water follows the method for isolating the oxygen 17 isotope from the water, and includes a step of performing catalytic methanation by adding hydrogen to the mixed gas, performing catalytic methanation reaction, methanating the mixed gas, and synthesizing methane (CH) and the oxygen 17 concentrated water (HO).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
