摘要
The alkali and alkaline earth metal salts of 2:4-dihalogen-6-oxy-1:3:5 triazines, e.g. the lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium salts, are prepared by reacting a 2:4:6-trihalogen-1:3:5-triazine with a water-soluble salt of a weak acid or a hydroxide or oxide of an alkali or alkaline earth metal or calcium or magnesium carbonate in an aqueous or aqueousacetone medium. Examples are given.ALSO:The properties of fibrous materials containing hydroxyl groups are modified by acylating the materials with water-soluble salts of 2:4-dihalogen-6-oxy-1:3:5-triazines. The alkali and alkaline-earth metal salts of 2:4-dihalogen-6-oxy-1:3:5-triazines, e.g. the magnesium, calcium, lithium, potassium and sodium salts, are preferably used. The reaction of the fibrous material with the triazine salt is preferably carried out in an aqueous or organic-aqueous medium in the presence of an acid-binding agent, e.g. an alkali metal hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate, or a buffer, if desired with the addition of an electrolyte such as sodium chloride or sodium sulphate or a non-electrolyte such as urea. The fibrous material may either by impregnated with an aqueous solution of the triazine salt and then steamed in the presence of an alkali or subjected to the action of dry heat or it may be impregnated with an aqueous solution of the triazine salt rendered alkaline by the addition, for example, of an alkali metal carbonate and then rotated in a moist state to bring about reaction and then rinsed. Specified fibres are natural cellulose, e.g. cotton, hemp, linen and jute, regenerated cellulose, e.g. viscose rayon, and synthetic fibres, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol.ALSO:The swelling capacity and crease resistance of fibrous materials containing hydroxyl groups are modified by acylating the materials with watersoluble salts of 2 : 4-dihalogen-6-oxy-1 : 3 : 5-triazines.
