A planting machine for use in forestry comprises a planter 1 pivotally attached to a frame 2 provided with wheels 6a which run on a track 3 which is laid on the ground and has guide rails 4 which co-operate with rollers 5. The frame 2 is driven by a motor 8. The planter includes a furrow opening device, a planting device comprising two discs 15 which are followed by furrow closing wheels 16. The planter is pivotally mounted on a rotatable tube 12 and is transversely adjustable thereon. At the end of a row the planter is rotated on the tube 12 so that it lies on the opposite side of the machine and the direction of travel of the frame 2 is reversed.
