Adsorbing sulphur from industrial exhaust fumes - to avoid atmospheric pollution and to recover sulphur at economic cost

Industrial exhaust gases are purified before exhausting to atmosphere and, simultaneously, yield recovered sulphuretted compounds, as well as sulphur from very low concentration in the gases, e.g. below 2% by volume. The gases entrain adsorbant, e.g. aluminium, particles through a column which delivers into a separator, usually a filter or a cyclone, which exhausts purified gases and traps the adsorbant material, pref. to be regenerated, cooled and recycled to the adsorption column. The process is attractive to industry because of its efficiency, simplicity and economy.
