A forming roll of hard material, such as cemented tungsten carbide, is mounted on a driving shaft. The shaft has a shoulder either integral with the shaft or in the form of a nut threaded thereon abutting one axial end of the roll while the other end of the roll is in the form of a wide angle "V."
